Micro-courses & tips

Short guides to choose trim size, pick niches, and publish on KDP. Builds authority and keeps you in the flow.

How to choose trim size

For KDP low-content books, common trim sizes are 8.5" x 11" (US Letter) for coloring and activity books, and 8.5" x 8.5" for children's books. Letter size is widely accepted and fits most home printers. Use 8.25" x 6" for travel-sized or 7" x 10" for a more premium feel. Check KDP's trim size list for exact supported dimensions and set your project to match before generating.

Best niches for Q4

Holiday and seasonal themes perform well in Q4: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year. Winter and cozy themes (snow, hot cocoa, sweaters) also sell. Consider advent calendars, holiday coloring books, and gift-themed activity books. Start creating in September so your books are live by October–November. Back-to-school (August–September) is another strong period for kids' activity and educational books.

KDP checklist before upload

Before uploading to KDP: (1) Use the correct trim size and ensure your PDF has no crop marks in the live area. (2) Set bleed to 0.125" if your design extends to the edge. (3) Export interior as PDF with embedded fonts and 300 DPI for images. (4) Cover: use KDP's cover calculator for spine width based on page count and paper type. (5) Save your title, description, and keywords in our KDP listing tool so you can paste them into KDP.

Getting the most from Writomize™

Start with one book type (e.g. coloring or word search) and refine your prompt. Use the same style description across a series for a consistent look. Generate a cover after your interior so the cover matches the content. Use the preview's flip-through and 3D view to sense the final product. Export with your chosen language and text direction (RTL) if you're targeting Arabic or other RTL markets.
